J&K HIM Cattery
J&K HIM Cattery is a CFA registered Cattery founded by two big boys in October 2015. It is the Cattery aimed to breed the excellent Himalayans. The name ‘J’ and ‘K’ is from the English name of two founders: Joseph and Keith. HIM represents male and also the breeding cat category: Himalayan.

The attraction of blue eye and white hair color
The founder Joseph said his first love on pedigree cat was pure white Persian. He was later attracted by the blue eye cats. White Persian with blue eye becomes Joseph dream cat.

However, Pure White Persian is not always white, meaning that the gene causes a cat to have a white coat is a dominant masking gene. As a result, the cat will have underlying coat color such as black, blue or tabby. Thus, developing a white color Persian is a very difficult task. The worst case is, the study show that white color Persian with blue eye has higher chances of having deaf.
Balancing the appearance and the risk, Joseph finally learns that the breed of white Persian with blue eye Himalayans may come out a very good white hair with blue eye cat, and this becomes the primary target of J&K HIM Cattery.
Box style of Himalayans
Himalayans belongs the Persian family. The unique style of Persian and Siamese becomes the characters of Himalayan. Joseph explains in detail “Although Himalayan look likes real Persian, its Siamese DNA makes most of the Himalayans having long body instead of box style body which is the Persian Family standard” “ So it is hard to see Himalayan wins in the pedigree cat show. The goal of J&K HIM is to breed a box style Himalayans”

Family support
Developing a cattery is not an easy job without family support. Joseph thanks to his partner and especially his mother. “Our relationship become closer after breeding pedigree cats. My mother is helping me on bathing cat weekly, we have the common goal, and more topics on cats daily life”.

From the Facebook fan page of J&K HIM, you seldom see the real face of Joseph. All the photos are the cats and his mother. “I want to share the joy to her first” and it is interesting that many of the Facebook fans thinking Joseph is a woman rather than a big boy.

Joseph remembered the day when he feed the first cat. He spent nine months for the preparation including studying the particular cat behavior, and how to become a good breeder. That’s why he sets up a very demanding rule when you choose a cat from him. “I would make a contract with the new owner, with very strict rules like requesting them to send me the latest cat photos in the different time of a year, and hoping them to tell me the experience and the daily life with the cat. ’ Joseph comments that breeding cats is not only a trend, but also a promise to the cats.
